As a former Senior Principal Inspector of Taxes he spent over 25 years working for the Inland Revenue in a variety of roles, including District Inspector and as a Senior Investigator at Special Office where he was in charge of a team involved in tackling cases of serious fraud and avoidance.

In 1989 he left the Inland Revenue to take up a role with KPMG as head of their tax investigation team in the North West. Two years later he set up an independent firm which specialised in representing individuals and businesses who were the subject of tax and VAT investigations.

David has also worked as Director of tax investigations at DLA Piper, one of the worlds largest law firms and at Rathbone Trust Company. In these roles David has represented a number of clients who were the subject of a prosecution for suspected tax offences by HMRC and who, following trial were found not guilty of all charges.

David has also acted for numerous clients who were subject to civil investigations by HMRC including very high net worth individuals and directors of Public Companies. Many of these have involved substantial funds which were held in overseas jurisdictions under a variety of guises including Trusts and Offshore Companies.
